These aileron/flap
gust locks fit between the aileron and flap (or aileron and wing of a
120). These come in pairs, one is installed on each wing. They hold the
ailerons secure and also keep the flaps from banging down in high winds,
which can damage the stops and wear out the flap control fittings and
control tube. They are made from 5052, 0.060" aluminum, powdercoated with
red polyurethane. They have a divider in the center to maintain alignment
between the control surfaces.
The inside is cushioned with 5/8" thick closed-cell foam that is made to resist ozone and UV in outdoor applications. It conforms well to the corrugations of Cessna control surfaces but still has enough support to hold the control surfaces secure. The top and bottom padded area is 6" x 6" and the angle between the top and bottom is about 14 degrees. Also included are two 12-inch vinyl-coated fabric "REMOVE BEFORE FLIGHT" streamers with zinc-plated attachment rings. Important: The gust locks must be held in place with a bungee cord or rope. These are not included because the length varies with the airplane they are used on. Typically one end hooks to the gust lock and the other end hooks to the tie-down ring or around the wing strut. I think you will really like these gust locks, but if not, I will be happy to take them back within 30 days for any reason, even if you just decide they aren't what you needed.
